The Google Translate app has been updated with improved offline languages and expanded phonetic input support. The issue with entering text for some languages is simply that the characters aren't available, or are understandably buried, in our standard English QWERTY keyboards. To make things easier, Google Translate supports phonetic entry: type it in how it sounds, and Google will figure out what it is you're actually trying to say.
The updated Google Translate app now offers phonetic language support for several new languages:
- Bengali
- Gujarati
- Hindi
- Kannada
- Marathi
- Punjabi
- Tamil
- Telugu
Additionally, there are the standard minor bug fixes. With your author heading over to Germany next week, you can be sure that the Google Translate app is going to get some use. You can get the Google Translate app for free from Google Play.
Put the internet to work for you.
