Verizon's HTC One Remix is poised for 'mini' greatness

We know just about what to expect from Verizon's HTC One Remix, the American twin of the HTC One Mini 2 that's sold globally now: a smaller, but equally striking design compared to the HTC One M8, and robust specs that should make it a standout in the midtier class.

The One Mini 2's 4.5-inch 720p HD screen, 13-megapixel camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor performed admirably in CNET's full, rated review. Price was the only major flaw, but that's one thing Verizon customers who stick with the carrier's on-contract plan can wave away -- the HTC One Remix costs $50 with a new two-year service agreement (as usual, activation will cost more).

You'll still be able to wiggle out of the contract if you'd like, but as usual, that means you'll be buying the phone outright by the time you're done making your 20 monthly payments on Verizon's Edge plan. The Remix's $22.50-per-month cost adds up to $450 overall.

Sound steep? It sure is when you compare it with the Motorola Moto G, which sets you back only $220 for an unlocked device. That's why the Remix is a better deal for those signing on for the two-year contractual ride.
