NTT Docomo brings Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy S5 Active and Galaxy Tab S 8.4 to Japan

Japanese carrier NTT Docomo has announced its winter lineup of devices, which include the Galaxy S5 Active, Galaxy Note Edge and the Galaxy Tab S 8.4. The inclusion of the rugged Galaxy S5 Active makes it the first time the device is available outside of North American markets.

The Galaxy S5 Active will be available to consumers starting October 4, while sales of the Galaxy Note Edge will commence from the last week of October. The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 will be available in the month of December. All three devices come with One Seg support for over the air HDTV streaming and Xi LTE connectivity.

In terms of specs, the Galaxy Note Edge boasts a 5.6-inch Quad-HD Super AMOLED display with a curved edge, 2.7 GHz Snapdragon 805 CPU, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal memory, microSD slot, 16 MP camera with OIS, 3.7 MP frontal camera and a 3,000 mAh battery. The availability of the device may be limited in the country as Samsung mentioned that the Note Edge is a limited concept device. The Charcoal Black and Frost White color variants will initially be available for sale by the end of October, with other variants scheduled for a launch mid-November.

As for the Galaxy S5 Active, the device shares similar innards as the Galaxy S5, but features a rugged external shell that is Mil-STD-810G compliant. Highlighted features of the Galaxy S5 Active include a 5.1-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 CPU, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory, 16 MP camera and a 2,800 mAh battery. Both Titanium Grey and Camo Green color variants will be available for sale in the country.

The Galaxy Tab S 8.4, meanwhile, comes with an 8.4-inch Quad-HD panel, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal memory, Exynos 5 Octa 5420 CPU, 8 MP camera, 2.1 MP front shooter, LTE Cat 4 connectivity and a 4,900 mAh battery.
