Samsung's selfie-focused Galaxy Grand Prime may launch in India later this week

It looks like Samsung is considering the launch of a selfie focused camera in the Galaxy Grand line, dubbed the Galaxy Grand Prime, in India later this week. A retailer based out of Mumbai revealed that the retail price of the handset in the country will be Rs. 16,000 ($260), with a street price of Rs. 15,250 ($248).

The key feature in the Galaxy Grand Prime is the inclusion of a 5 MP wide angle lens at the front, which assists users in taking better selfies. Other specs of the device include a 5-inch qHD screen, 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal storage, 8 MP camera at the back, microSD slot up to 64 GB, dual-SIM functionality and a 2,600 mAh battery. The thickness of the device is listed as 8.6mm, and the retailer also mentioned that the Galaxy Prime will feature 14 regional languages out of the box. In terms of color variants, the device is will be offered in white and black.

While the rest of the specs are in line with what is being offered in this segment, the qHD screen is sure to be a letdown as other devices in this category, like the Moto G, come with a 720p display. Furthermore, Samsung isn't the first vendor to launch a selfie-focused device in India, as Sony launched the Xperia C3 in the country earlier this month. The Xperia X3 comes with better specs and is priced higher than Samsung's offering in this segment.

What do you guys think of the upcoming Galaxy Grand Prime? Will Samsung be able to attract a younger audience with its selfie-focused device?
