Galaxy S5 mini reportedly launching mid-July

Samsung logo Samsung is getting ready to launch a mini version of the Galaxy S5, which is reportedly set to hit retailers next month. According to SamMobile, the device will be available world-wide.

Citing an anonymous insider source, the SamMobile report suggests that the Galaxy S5 mini will include some of the features that are seen on the standard Galaxy S5, which include a fingerprint sensor and heart rate monitor. Like the Galaxy S5, the S5 mini is said to be IP67 certified water and dust resistant.

As for the internal hardware, the Galaxy S5 mini is alleged to feature a 4.5-inch 720p screen, 1.5 GB RAM, a Samsung Exynos 3 Quad SoC with a 1.4 GHz CPU, 8 MP rear camera along with a 2.1 MP front shooter, LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, IR blaster, and NFC along with Android 4.4.2 KitKat on Samsung's latest TouchWiz UX skin. The Galaxy S5 mini is rumored to include software utilities found in the Galaxy S5 like Ultra Power Saving Mode, Private Mode, and Kids Mode.

Judging from the hardware, the Galaxy S5 mini looks like a much better device than last year's Galaxy S4 mini, which featured a paltry qHD screen.

What do you think of the rumored specs for the Galaxy S5 mini? Would you be interested in such a device?
