Samsung unveils Galaxy A3 and A5 for that social networking millennial in your life

Samsung Galaxy A3 and A5

We've seen the leaks pointing to "Galaxy A" series devices from Samsung, and now the Galaxy A3 and A5 are official. Targeted at the younger crowd, the Galaxy A3 and A5 are both metal unibody devices that are just 6.9 and 6.7mm thick, respectively, and come in six different flashy colors.

Focusing on the younger set, Samsung says the Galaxy A3 and A5 are aimed at providing great camera and social networking experiences, with a 5MP front-facing shooter backed up by a variety of selfie modes being the focus instead of the 13MP rear camera.

The price is likely to be right for the younger buyers as well, with internal specs on the Galaxy A3 and A5 that aren't blowing anyone away. The A5 has a 5-inch 1280x720 Super AMOLED display while the A3 comes in at 4.5-inches and 960x540, with both running a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. The A5 has 2GB of RAM and a 2300mAh battery, while the A3 comes up smaller in both areas with 1900mAh and 1GB.

It's clear that the Galaxy A3 and A5 are about being stylish and accessible for a wider range of people rather than being on the bleeding edge of specs, particularly when the spec sheet lists that some variants won't even have LTE.

Samsung naturally isn't spilling specific details or pricing information, but it did say that the Galaxy A3 and A5 would be hitting stores starting in November while specifically mentioning China as a launch market. We'll have to see if one or both of these make their way over to Western shores.
